What. A. Year.

We started off 2019 in one of my favourite places… Jamaica. I don’t really know what it is, but I just love it there. The kick off wedding was at the amazing Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay Jamaica. It’s amazing. If you go to Jamaica, you should definitely consider this resort as an option. They legit have an entire “store” that is just sour candy…. annnddd it’s all inclusive. Yes, even the candy lol!

Shooting destination weddings often gives opportunity to explore and try and bring some culture of that locating into the photos. We travelled a short distanced a couple days after the wedding to the Rose Hall Great House for some photos. I will leave to story of this location up to you guys to research (its pretty wild), but the building and grounds were just amazing. At night they light the building with red lights, and turn it into a haunted house which people can tour! (https://rosehall.com/)

The year was busy, maybe busier than ever (I am working on finding a work/life balance in 2020), but it was a ton of fun. I go into every wedding with as much known as possible, and tried to embrace the unknown as much as possible. You can plan for weddings as much as you want, but you just don’t know 100% what it will be like on the wedding day. Weather can change, timelines can go off track, pants can rip, dress straps can break. It always works out though.

I co-hosted my first full wedding workshop “Perceive” with Melissa from Sugar and Soul photography. It was 2.5 days of learning and fun at the Falcon Trails resort in the Whiteshell provincial park. It was an awesome time, and good enough that our second workshop is coming up this April! Thanks to Magmod, and DVLOP presets for their continued support.

My goal was simple and similar to what it always is; Tell the story, work frickin’ hard, get the shots, be there for my couples, and try to help them have a great time. If my alarm has to go off at 2:20am, so I can get to Moraine Lake before sunset, and before 1000’s of tourists you bet your ass I am going to do it. If I have to climb a tree, a mountain, or get in a lake on your wedding day… been there, done that.

I’m looking forward to 2020.. How could I not be? My first wedding of the year is with an amazing couple, in Hawaii, at a Disney Resort! The images are going to be unbelievable.

Until then, enjoy some of my favourite shots from 2019. There are a lot, and a lot more that could be here. I can’t wait to show you what we create in 2020!
